Week 2 "Meh"

The second week of camp didn't run as smoothly as the first week. This was the week that I got my permanent class that I'll stay with for the remainder of camp, and it was a little disappointing that some of my new students aren't as enthusiastic as my last group. I was spoiled by how my old class would do nearly whatever I said on the drop of a hat, as opposed to my new group in which it takes a little bit longer. Luckily there is the power of "incentives" that makes behavior management a little easier. (i.e. candy, more playtime, movie time etc.)

Admittedly I had some struggles with teaching the kids the Environmental Education for the higher level class. Even though it was extremely scripted, i struggled with finding where the correct answers were within the text, and often the activity sheets weren't given to me on time, and I had to improvise throughout the week. All in all I did it, and at the end of the week we had an ice cream social event were some of the children watched a movie, got their face painted, or had extra playtime. I provided the face painting! Looking forward to next week!

  1. Dreahna- I am sure that in no time you will develop the same sort of bond you had with your old class with your new one!
