Anxiously awaiting week two

I'll start off with the parent orientation ,  I was extremely nervous because I honestly didn't know what to expect . I wasn't totally comfortable with the information that I would be teaching the kids so how could I explain it to their parents ? Our groups were split up into three sections, and each group of parents rotated into the different sections of the life in a SuperKids day . After the third and last time I was comfortable with the information , this to me was a milestone because public speaking is not my area of expertise . After the Orientation I was sure I would be able to handle the different aspects I was required to teach to the children .

The first week of camp flew by for me ! The kids were excited and totally easy going , I was especially thankful for the field trips on the first week because the kids enjoyed them , making it easier to bond with them not only a teacher-student level , but a more personal level . Once back in the classroom I realized the importance of planning ahead , which I had done the night before . This allowed me to ease through the lesson plan with ample time . KIDS LOVE PLAYWORKS ! Well the kids loved games in general but Playworks helped give me an idea of what games to actually do with them that would be productive . Even the Math games like "Math Mingle" were enjoyable to them . I loved watching them interact and loved being a part of this experience .

Honestly I expected the first week to be way more difficult than it turned out to be . I love my students and I know this summer will be a fun filled learning experience . I feel prepared for the obstacles and challenges to come knowing that I have a great team to guide me through it . Im looking forward to week two !

  1. Khadijah- Great job! I am so glad that you realize the importance of getting to know your campers. This will help in all aspects of being a Counselor.
