Reminiscing?
The first week was explosive and I didn't get the best chance to duck and cover. I am honestly going to say that training week did prepare me for it, but I just wished I wrote more notes during our training. The first day was very hectic especially since we where not able to use our classrooms because of a flooding issue. We were located into an upper gym (Dance studio) with roughly 50 kids. I was overwhelmed by all the noise and energy the kids had, and I kept asking myself if I acted that way as a kid, and it was most certainly true.
On the first day I messed up counting my attendance, delayed on many instances because I couldn't get control of the kids, and many more mistakes. At the end of the very long first day, I realized that these are kids and they are going to act wild but I could not blame them for bouncing off the walls. I learned quickly that I have much more power than I actually had. The second day, I learned from my mistakes and tried to stay on my schedule, I can say I have improved everyday.
Just as much as the kids learn from us, I can say I have learned from them to. My day doesn't start until I get my kids into my room because they feed me energy with their wide eyes and questions. That is why I believe I was reminiscing my childhood throughout the first week. I can say recovered from the explosion by the end of the week!

Michael- don't be too hard on yourself, the first day is tough. It sounds like you taking notice of what works and what doesn't and adjusting accordingly. Great job!
